Language abuse
The term “LED” refers to a device made up of light-emitting diodes capable of emitting light. An LED lamp is therefore a lamp with several light-emitting diodes.
The term “UV”, meanwhile, refers to a type of light emission in the ultraviolet, therefore invisible to the human eye, whose wavelength is between 100 nm and 400 nm.
A question of wavelength
The other parameter that differentiates drying lamps is the wavelength range at which they emit light. As we told you, ultraviolet rays are generally emitted at wavelengths between 100 and 400 nm. But not all gels catalyze at the same wavelength.
A question of power and exposure time
The other notable differences between the different drying lamps concern their power and the exposure times necessary to properly dry the gels. Again, depending on their composition, some gels require longer lamp powers and exposure times to dry properly.
